Swamp-o-ree!

You've heard of a Scout camp-o-ree before. Now just add a dash of "swamp flavor" to it! The result is a weekend of camping, swamp exploration, challenges, and fun!

Scouts from across the region, including those from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, and Alabama have traveled to Swamp Base each spring to join in the excitement of this affordable program.

SWAMP-O-REE OVERVIEW:

• Located along the banks of the Atchafalaya Swamp utilizing our partner company, McGee's Swamp Tours, located at 1337 Henderson Levee Rd., Henderson, LA

• Two nights of camping (Friday and Saturday)

• One jammed packed day of activities!

  • Hold a baby alligator!

  • Paddle one of two trails (3.5 or 6 miles) led by a Swamp Base trek guide - rental of paddling gear included in event fee

  • Take a 90-minute swamp tour with a local guide seeing large alligators up close!

  • Compete in the "Trek Guide Challenge" and see if you have what it takes to be a Swamp Base trek guide. Events vary each year and will test both your mental and physical skills

  • Enjoy an evening campfire program full of goofy skits with our staff

  • Cost = $55/person!
